a jaundiced eye: boring
"Originality is the ability to conceal your source." From the early days of c|net to the subsequent adoption of the ubiquitous sidebar navigation style, web designers have been chasing the elusive Holy Grail of web layout. We at A Jaundiced Eye believe that the sites collected here represent the finest results of this quest. By refusing to innovate, the designers of the sites listed here have brought the Web closer than ever to the dream of Jakob "useit" Nielsen, that of a single interface for the entire Web. (Note that the article above is hosted on Web-Vantage, a member of our fine constituency). Please feel free to submit your own selections to the list. We will review your submissions and add them if acceptable. Once we have indexed the final sidebar web site on the network, A Jaundiced Eye will also join the ranks of the sidebarred, following a strategy for salvation made popular by the bodhisattvas of China and Japan, where the enlightened do not cross over into Nirvana until the "last blade of grass" has also been brought to enlightenment. Browse through the amazing (and long) list of sites by clicking on the various button badges to the left. Thanks for your staunch refusal to compromise usability in exchange for questionable gains in originality and freshness. A special thanks to Sarah and Scooter for pointing out the conspiracy in the first place.
